About the Role

Fraser High School is seeking a proactive and empathetic Attendance and Engagement Liaison to join our pastoral team. This is a permanent, 30hours per week, term time only position starting in Term 2, 2026.

You will work to empower aakonga (students) and their whaanau to re-engage with education. This role involves building high-trust relationships, conducting home visits, and collaborating with school leadership to support students who are chronically or moderately absent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Whaanau Engagement: Conduct positive, non-judgmental home visits to develop trust and offer solution-focused support to families.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Assistant Principals, Deans, and external agencies to identify and support students needing intervention.

  • Data & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of attendance interventions and provide timely feedback to the school’s leadership team.

  • Support & Advocacy: Help identify barriers to attendance and connect families with relevant school supports, such as counsellors or nurses.

Skills and Experience

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate sensitive conversations with aakonga and whaanau.

  • A solution-focused approach and the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain confidential, professional records.
